| Jane Seymour Returns to Short Hills for Art Show |
Jane Seymour is probably best known for her role as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, but a lot of her fans know that her art has moved beyond the small or big screen and onto canvas. While she loves acting, Seymour said painting is the art she does for herself – and, often now, for others. “It’s my Zen experience,” she told Patch recently. “It’s how I communicate my thoughts and my feelings and not just those of a character I’m playing. When I’m painting, the whole world disappears.” This weekend, fans of her work can not only see her paintings, sketches and sculptures at the Wentworth Gallery at The Mall at Short Hills, but they can meet the actress-artist as well. Seymour will visit the gallery for the opening of her latest show – and first show with her eldest son Sean Flynn, a photographer – on Friday and Saturday (Mar 2 and 3). “My son is a very talented photographer and that has absolutely nothing to do with me,” she said. “I love his work, and it will be nice to have our work shown together.” Seymour is a mother of four – two grown children (including Sean) and 16-year-old twins, all of whom have various artistic talents from art to music. She has found that having an in-home painting studio has been a way not only to show how she values art but a way to connect to her teenagers as well, she said. “I love when my son and his friends start painting – it’s great to see teenage boys painting in the studio,” she said. While Seymour is still hard at work acting – her more recent credits include Wedding Crashers, a Law & Order SVU episode and a yet-to-be released movie, Austenland – it is painting that grounds her. She carries small canvases and art supplies for her downtime in hotels, she said. “It relaxes me,” she said. “With acting, a lot of the what you’re doing is dependent on other people. There are a million people that come between you and the finished product. “But I can lose myself in painting,” she said. “It’s something I do for me. It’s my own reflection on life. And then when that speaks to someone, it’s powerful stuff.” Seymour said almost anything can inspire her – she is inspired by life all around. And among the 80 or 90 pieces in the show, collectors will find seascapes, landscapes, portraits and flowers, often a single, bright, vivid flower, and, of course, her signature Open Hearts, which has inspired a foundation and a line of jewelry, as well as paintings and sculptures. “I am not an artist who does the same thing over and over. I study different styles and techniques,” she said. “And I will paint on commission as well – if someone likes something but wants it in other colors, for instance.” Seymour lives in Malibu, but travels for her acting and her art shows – this will be the fourth show she’s had at the Wentworth Gallery. “There are wonderful collectors in the area who come every year,” she said. “There’s always something different in the show.” Seymour will be at the Wentworth Gallery at The Mall at Short Hills from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. |

| Jane Seymour to be in ABC movie Elixir! |
ABC Family enters into the world of music with its first movie musical featuring an incredibly talented cast, including Jane Seymour, Chelsea Kane, Sara Paxton, Alexander John, Drew Seeley, Adrienne Bailon and Tom Wopat. The two-hour original movie, “Elixir” (working title), also features a stellar creative team in producer Debra Martin Chase and Terry Rossio, writers Terry Rossio & Jaylynn Bailey, choreographer Michael Rooney and director Sanaa Hamri. The movie will feature unforgettable covers as well as several original songs and show-stopping dance numbers. Principal shooting is scheduled to start September 26 in Pittsburgh, PA. This original movie is slated to premiere on ABC Family in 2012. Harper (Jane Seymour) was one of the best dancers to hit Broadway, but an injury caused her to leave the spotlight, become a choreographer, and raise her daughter, Mirabella (Sara Paxton). When Mirabella, the star of Harper’s next big production, decides to quit the show to get married, her mother is determined to put a stop to the wedding and show Mirabella that she cannot give up her career for love, especially to marry playboy Marco (Alexander John). After the long flight to the Italian wedding site, Harper takes a swig from a strange bottle that is supposed to dull the pain of an old dance injury. Instead, the elixir magically turns Harper 30 years younger. Harper’s younger appearance (Chelsea Kane plays Young Harper) allows her to secretly infiltrate the wedding – only to confront a huge obstacle in Mirabella’s father, Ryan (Tom Wopat), who can recognize his ex-wife in any form. After he too experiences the reverse-aging effects of the elixir (Drew Seeley plays Young Ryan), Ryan teams with Harper to reverse the damage she’s done to Mirabella and Marco’s relationship, hopefully in time to save the wedding. Throughout this fairytale romance, Harper, Mirabella, Ryan and Marco express themes of life and love through song and dance in a magical story examining life, love and family bonds. The script was written by Terry Rossio (“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” “Shrek”), who will also executive-produce, and Jaylynn Bailey; two-time Emmy? nominated motion picture and television producer Debra Martin Chase (“The Princess Diaries,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Just Wright,” “Lemonade Mouth” and the upcoming remakes of “Dirty Dancing” and “Sparkle,” starring Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks) will executive-produce; Sanaa Hamri (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” “Just Wright,” “Something New,” and director of music videos for Prince, Mariah Carey, Jay Z and for Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass,” winner for Best Hip-Hop Video at MTV’s VMA’s) is set to direct; and Michael Rooney (“(500) Days of Summer,” “The Muppets” and choreographer of music videos for Fatboy Slim and Gnarls Barkley’s “Run,” for which he won his 5th MTV Award for Best Choreography) is set to choreograph. Gaylyn Fraiche (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” “Just Wright” and “Lemonade Mouth”) is also a producer. Article Source: thefutoncritic.com |

| Jane Seymour to join Austenland film |
Stephenie Meyer is moving on from vampires. The author of the best-selling “Twilight” series is producing the romantic comedy “Austenland,” based on the Shannon Hale novel of the same name. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film will be directed by Jerusha Hess, who co-wrote “Napolean Dynamite,” and will star Keri Russell, JJ Field and Bret McKenzie. It will tell the story of a woman whose obsession with the “Pride and Prejudice” character Mr. Darcy is so extreme that it is hurting her love life. But after making her way to an Austen-themed English resort, she eventually falls for an actor playing Darcy. Actors Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Seymour, Rupert Vansittart and James Callis round out the cast. “Austenland,” which will be Meyer’s first non-authored project, will reportedly begin shooting in the U.K. this week.
